Role Summary

As a Senior Research Associate at Notch Therapeutics, you will be part of a diverse team focused on advancing iPSC-derived T-cell therapeutics from discovery-stage through scale-up and clinical manufacturing. You will perform genetic engineering of human induced pluripotent stem cells and functional characterization of edited cell lines. You will collaborate with internal research, animal modeling, translational sciences, cell banking, and manufacturing teams. You will be responsible for planning, execution, and reporting of internal and partner-facing projects. You will be bringing new and innovative products, technologies, and processes to market to enable life-saving advances in cell therapy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform aseptic cell culture of pluripotent stems cells (PSC).
  • Perform transfection and viral transductions in PSC and PSC-derived cell types.
  • Perform standard molecular biology techniques including primer-, guide-, probe- and vector design, PCR, ddPCR, qPCR, Sanger sequencing, NGS library preparation.
  • Characterization of clonal genome edited iPSCs lines including genomic stability assays, Flow Cytometry, Microscopy.
  • Support efforts to establish and maintain policies and procedures related to lab operations and biosafety.
  • Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks for proper documentation of all research activities.
  • Deliver reports, summaries, and presentations supporting experimental results.
  • Drive effective communication with CMC/GMP team and across the organization.
  • Contribute to daily lab organization and operations, including ordering, monitoring and organizing inventory, equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Demonstrate continuous integrity, credibility, and positivity and motivate others to do the same.

 

Role Requirements and Qualifications

  • Sc in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, synthetic biology, immunology or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years in a biotech or industry position
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture, human iPSC experience a plus
  • Experience in transfection and/or transduction of human cells
  • Experience in genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9, TALENs or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, ddPCR, qPCR, NGS library preparation, DNA preparation.
  • Experience in design of primers, guides and vectors and/or analysis of NGS or genomic data a plus
  • Experience in clonal PSC line generation and characterization a plus
  • Hands-on experience with immunostaining and flow cytometry a plus
  • Working knowledge of immunology and T-cell biology and oncology is preferred.
  • Ability to independently execute and report on research projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

Desired Characteristics and Demonstrated Skills

  • Experience developing technology platforms for therapeutic programs is preferred.
